The Office of Child Care (OCC) is responsible for regulating child care facilities, promoting the use of regulated care, facilitating the development of new child care resources, monitoring caregiver compliance with child care licensing requirements, encouraging the growth of caregiver professionalism, and providing technical assistance to caregivers and parents. Within the Office of Child Care the Licensing Branch is specifically responsible for all child care licensing activities. All regulatory activity is conducted through regional and field offices located throughout the State of Maryland. Supervisory oversight of the regional operations is provided by central office staff located in Baltimore City.
