Maryland's Career Technology Education (CTE) programs fall under ten career clusters, groupings of interrelated occupations that represent the full range of career opportunities in key economic sectors of Maryland’s economy.
College and school administrators, counselors, and faculty members are using the career cluster system to develop programs that extend from high school to two-and four-year colleges/universities, apprenticeship programs and the workplace.
The programs listed under each cluster are Maryland's model CTE program proposals. Templates are available for local directors of CTE to use to obtain program approval. Other helpful tools for directors are the Policies and Procedures for Development and Continuous Improvement of Career and Technology Education guide, Local Advisory Council (LAC) and Program Advisory Committees (PAC) Policies and Procedures guide, Memorandum of Understanding Procedures for the Inclusion of Postsecondary Career and Technology Education (CTE) Program on Maryland's List of Approved CTE Programs, Procedures for the Inclusion of Postsecondary Career and Technology Education Programs on Maryland's List of Approved CTE Programs and the Maryland High School Career and Technology Education Programs of Study resource.
