Higher Education - Title II - Teacher Quality

Reporting for Higher Education Act
States must produce an annual report to the U.S. Department of Education which details certification pass rate data for all teacher preparation institutions, as well as information regarding state standards, alternative certification, and numbers of teachers who are employed but not fully qualified. States must also report on their procedures for identifying and assisting institutions that are low performing. To meet the federal reporting requirements, Maryland links the institutional performance criteria to state teacher education policy, The Redesign of Teacher Education, and to ongoing program approval procedures. Maryland administers Title II state grant funds to assist institutions in meeting the state and federal mandates.
