Provider Grant Program

FAMILY DAY CARE PROVIDER GRANT PROGRAM

The MSDE Office of Child Care (OCC) administers the Family Day Care Provider Grant Program, which exists to help registered child care providers offset some of the costs of operating their child care programs. Eligibility is based upon income, depending upon family size. Specifically, the Provider Grant Program reimburses up to $500 in expenses that a provider incurs in order to achieve or maintain compliance with family child care regulations. Reimbursement is made in the form of a grant award. To receive an award, a provider must file a written application with the OCC Regional Licensing Office that issued the provider’s registration certificate. All awards are made on a one-time basis. Examples of program expenses that are eligible for reimbursement include:
  1. Safety supplies
  2. Medical examination fees
  3. Criminal background check fees
  4. Small household repairs in approved child care areas
  5. Approved training course fees
  6. Expenses related to local water, fire, sewer, and health requirements
  7. Appropriate program materials and equipment
  8. Other costs identified as necessary for completion of the registration process

The Provider Grant Program is operated in accordance with regulations set forth at Code of Maryland Regulations COMAR 13A.14.07. These regulations specify eligibility requirements, application procedures, and the method by which awards are made.

To obtain a Provider Grant application or additional information about the Provider Grant Program, please call the OCC Regional Licensing Office in your area, or call the OCC Administrative Services unit at (410) 767-7831
