Healthy Child Care Maryland
Healthy Child Care Maryland helps to identify and disseminate information about programs that provide free or low cost health insurance, supplemental food and nutrition programs, and services and programs for the disabled and special needs population.
The program is conducting outreach to childcare providers, families, and pediatric medical providers about the health needs of children in child care settings. Services include health and safety information to childcare providers and site visits to childcare classrooms and homes to provide advice and education about the need for routine health screenings for children. Local community resources that provide routine health treatment, health maintenance, and preventative services are identified for child care providers and the families they serve.
The Building Healthy Futures Conference is a training event that covers a wide range of health and safety topics. Strategies to alleviate health and safety risks to children, education and training about playground safety, communicable disease prevention, lead paint poisoning prevention, and the management of medical conditions such as diabetes and asthma are provided.
