The Principals Fellowship and Leadership Development Program

The Principals Fellowship and Leadership Development Program is designed to place outstanding school leaders in low-performing schools as delineated by the No Child Left Behind stages of school improvement.  Through a rigorous application process, distinguished principals from around the state compete for the fellowship awards.  Once selected, these outstanding school leaders agree to leading the identified school for three years; building leadership capacity in the school so that effective leadership is sustained over time; and assisting the receiving system in developing meaningful professional development opportunities for their school leaders.  The monetary awards comprise the fellowship and serve as a catalyst for discussion around the issues of compensation for school leaders.
