Nominated by the local superintendent

Completed the first year as a principal but not more than five years

Committed to completing the yearlong Academy experience

Completion of the Academy project
Program Delivery Systems
- Division for Leadership Development staff and trained veteran principals deliver and design professional development sessions for building leadership skills
- Current information from national, state, and local speakers and researchers who address specific ideas and strategies for increasing teacher and student learning
- Networking opportunities to exchange ideas with colleagues and
experienced principals
- Research-based materials and texts that stimulate thinking and guide discussion about continuous school improvement
Academy Benefits
- A professional learning environment that promotes collegial
networking, knowledge building, and opportunities for collaboration and planning
- A job-embedded professional opportunity that informs the
participants about the leadership knowledge, skills, and dispositions that improve school performance and student achievement
- Continuing Professional Development credit for those participants completing the three-day residential Academy and both follow-up sessions
