The P-20 College Success Task Force will examine current K-12 and higher education policies and practices in the State of Maryland related to alignment of educational standards, expectations and student learning outcomes.
Particular attention should be given to the areas of mathematics, reading, and writing with the goal of making recommendations to the P-20 Council for policy revisions by the appropriate governing boards and/or new practices to raise standards and insure that completion requirements at the 12th grade are aligned with entrance expectations for post-secondary education.
Specifically the task force is asked to:
1. Identify gaps in alignment with particular attention to reading, writing and mathematics
2. Identify national benchmark educational achievement standards
3. Make recommendations that assure a seamless transition from the 12th grade to the first year of college benchmarked against national standards
