Youth Development Strategic Plan
2004-2007

Goal I: We will provide technical assistance to local school systems, the community (including non-profit and faith-based organizations), and students to promote and evaluate programs and activities that foster academic achievement, personal development, and civic engagement. (MSDE - Goals 1,2,3,4, and 5, Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)  - Goals 1,2,3,4, and 5,  Performance Evaluation Program (PEP) - Customer Service)

A. YDB Staff provides opportunities for professional development to all stakeholders.

B. YDB Staff effectively communicates with all stakeholders employing a variety of mediums in a timely and profession manner.

C. YDB Staff cultivates leadership among all stakeholders.

D. YDB Staff facilitates networking opportunities among stakeholders.

E. YDB Staff provides resources and support for program evaluation to stakeholders.

Goal II: We will secure, manage, and allocate resources to promote our partners’ efforts in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities that foster academic achievement, personal development, and civic engagement. (MSDE - Goals 1,2,3,4, and 5, ESEA - Goals 1,3,4, and 5)

A. YDB Staff secures funding.

B. YDB Staff manages grants and subgrants.

C. YDB Staff monitors and supports subgrantees.

Goal III: We will expand support for programs and activities that promote academic achievement, personal development, and civic engagement through multiple modes of communication. (MSDE - Goal 5, ESEA - Goal 5, PEP - Customer Service)

A. YDB Staff educates the public about Youth Development programs and their effectiveness.

B. YDB Staff recognizes exemplary Youth Development programs, practices and leaders.

C. YDB Staff provides information to and solicits feedback from stakeholders.

Goal IV: We will promote sustainability of programs and activities that foster academic achievement, personal development, and civic engagement through local stewardship, resource allocation, and broad-based support. (MSDE - Goals 1,2,3,4, and 5, ESEA - Goals 1,3,4, and 5)

A. YDB advocates for partners to maintain an infrastructure of stakeholders that works as a team to support youth development programs.

B. YDB supports partners in developing resources for youth development programs.

Goal V: We will strive to create a healthy, effective, and collaborative work environment where co-workers are supported, valued, and celebrated. (MSDE - Goal 4, ESEA - Goal 4, PEP - Teamwork)

A. YDB Staff engages in frequent formal and informal communication.

B. YDB Staff supports one another’s activities and events.

C. YDB Staff encourages professional development and reflection.

D. YDB Staff acknowledges and celebrates accomplishments.
