BALTIMORE (November, 2009)--The following calendar is for Maryland Schools Superintendent Dr. Nancy S. Grasmick beginning the week of November 2, 2009.
Monday, November 2
Present; MILKEN Award Winner School Visit, 12:00 p.m.
- Dr. Grasmick, Michael Milken, and other education leaders will announce the recipient of the 2009-2010 MILKEN National Educator Award. Since first presented in 1987, the Milken Educator Awards is now the nation’s largest teacher recognition program having honored more than 2,400 educators from coast to coast with over $60 million in unrestricted cash awards. The Milken Educator Awards were established to provide public recognition and individual financial rewards of $25,000 to elementary and secondary teachers, principals and specialists who are furthering excellence in education.

Attend; Unveiling of the William Donald Schaefer Statue, 1:00 p.m.
- Dr. Grasmick will attend the unveiling of the statue by Rodney Carroll honoring Governor William Donald Schaefer, who served as Baltimore City Council; Baltimore City Mayor; Maryland Governor; and Maryland Comptroller, on his 88th birthday.

Tuesday, November 3
Speak; School Dedication, 9:30 a.m.
- Dr. Grasmick will share remarks during the Dedication Ceremony at Evergreen Elementary School in St. Mary’s County. The new state-of-the-art facility has become a “true” learning lab featuring innovative designs.

- Dr. Grasmick will tour school and visit students, teachers, and staff at Baltimore Highlands Elementary School in Baltimore County.
