About Excel Academy Public Charter School

Excel Academy opened in 2006.

Program Philosophy and Model:
• To build a solid learning foundation by ensuring that all students are reading and performing number operations on grade level by the end of third grade

Learning Environment:
• Grade level classrooms exist in kindergarten through third grade
• Students in grade levels four through six move to different classrooms for instruction in reading/language arts, science/social students, and mathematics
• Students have access to two computers in each classroom and two portable computer labs with sixteen computers each

Student Support Services/Programs:
• A Guidance Counselor is available to support students and families with particular learning, social, or emotional concerns
• A Special Education teacher is available to work with students who have specific academic needs

Partnerships:
• Excel Academy partners with five churches that allow the school to use their facilities for extended day programming after normal school hours.
