Baltimore Montessori opened in August of 2008 and is the first public Montessori school in Baltimore. The school is located in a renovated a school building that had been closed for 9 years. Baltimore Montessori is centrally located in Greenmount West, part of the Arts and Entertainment district in Baltimore City.

Program Philosophy and Model

  • Baltimore Montessori Public Charter School’s goal is to provide Montessori Education to more children.

Learning Environment

  • All teachers are Montessori trained
  • Classrooms are fully equipped with Montessori materials
  • The facility has been renovated to create a warm, child-centered environment

Student Support Services

  • The integrated Montessori curriculum is employed, which includes a 3 hour work period each morning.
  • Classes are mixed ages
  • Baltimore Montessori begins with three year olds to build a strong foundation for the elementary years

Partnerships

  • A partnership is in development with MICA to offer additional enrichment activities
  • The after care program is provided by One World Cultural Arts Society
  • A consultative partnership is in development with the Montessori trainers at Loyola College
