About Turning Point Academy Public Charter School

The Turning Point Academy opened as a charter school in 2006-2007. It made Adequate Yearly Progress in its first year of operation.

Program Philosophy and Model:

  • Turning Point Academy embraces the Hyde Leadership School model, which uses a character-based curriculum that stresses a student-parent partnerships and family-school bonds.
  • Turning Point Academy’s approach is focused on educating the whole child.
  • Turning Point Academy aims to provide children with the educational structure and school culture they need to be academically successful and socially responsible.
  • Turning Point Academy children are exposed to character education that encourages a healthy appreciation for individual potential while fostering a sense of duty to family, school and community.

Learning Environment:

  • Turning Point Academy believes that character development is the key to helping each child discover their gifts and unique potential.
  • Time is built into the schedule every day for students to reflect and act upon the school’s Five Words and Five Principles.
  • Students are held to high expectations for success, which are aligned with the school’s core values:

    • Attitude more than aptitude

    • Character more than talent
  • Turning Point Academy aims to support every student in achieving his or her personal best fairly, honestly, and with compassion for the needs of others.

Student Support Programs and Services:
