English Language/Arts PARCC Updates
The PARCC Updates Webinar was conducted by the ELA team on December 17, 2013 at 4:00 pm EST.

Description: PARCC has released task generation models and evidence statements along with sample items and tasks to support teachers. In this session, participants reviewed the PARCC documents and the design of the ELA/Literacy Summative Assessment. Participants walked through a complete Literary Analysis Task and reflect on instructional implications.

The PARCC assessments are here! Attend this webinar to learn about the design of the assessments, explore sample items and how students will be scored (Performance Level Descriptors-PLDs), and discuss implications for curriculum design/instructional practice. Participants will have the opportunity to examine connections to the standards, rubrics for scoring, and implications for special populations.


Parent Focused Webinars

Engaging Family & Community in the CCRS
This webinar will examine how building positive relationships with parents and community members will facilitate the implementation of curriculum. Participants will receive strategies, materials and rationale for involving parents and the community in the full transition to Maryland College and Career Ready Standards.

Carroll County: Mathematics - Connecting School to Home
Parent involvement is a strong factor for student success. In order to support parents with the new standards, teachers from the Carroll County Public Schools created videos for parents to assist with explaining elementary school mathematical concepts. Don Hicks, the Supervisor of Elementary Education, presented on how the videos were created and their impact on students and parents.
