Task Force to Study the Adult High School Concept

​The Task Force to Study the Adult High School Concept is to recommend how to establish and regulate adult high schools. In formulating its recommendations, the Task Force will consider eligibility requirements, financial stability, and capacity standards for adult high school operators; accreditation; reporting requirements; curriculum content; matriculation requirements; funding options, including financial aid; and other relevant issues.

Adult High School Pilot Program
Solicitation for Proposals

The Adult High School Pilot Program establishes an alternative method for adults, who did not graduate from high school, to earn a high school diploma and potentially earn post secondary credit or an industry-recognized certification in an environment that meets the needs of the adult learner. The pilot program, established by House Bill 1381, became effective on July, 1 2017. A maximum of six Adult High School Pilot Programs may be approved.

Authority

The Adult High School Pilot is under the authority of the Maryland State Department of Education and the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.

Eligible Applicants
Private non-profit organizations interested in applying to become a pilot operator will need to submit a detailed proposal, including a three-year budget. Refer to the Solicitation for Proposals for the complete description of eligibility.

Funding
Public funding is not provided for the pilot.
