Maryland's Early Childhood Intervention and Education System of Services for Children with Disabilities (Birth through 5)

Welcome to the Early Childhood Intervention and Education (ECIE) Branch. The ECIE Branch includes the Maryland Infants and Toddlers Program and Preschool Special Education Services for children with disabilities age birth through five and their families. On behalf of the Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services, we invite parents, service providers, administrators, advocates and other stakeholders to join us in sharing resources and information to support young children with disabilities and their families.

Maryland's Extended IFSP Option For Children Age 3 to Age 4-Policies and Procedures *REVISED FFY 2011* - NEW
The Extended IFSP Option opportunity was made possible for Maryland's families through an awarded federal incentive grant. With the closing of this stiumuls grant on November 30, 2011, Maryland is required to revise the age of eligibility for participation.

State Interagency Coordinating Council (SICC)
The SICC assists and advises the State lead agency (MSDE) in implementing and improving Maryland's early childhood intervention and education system of services. SICC meetings are held quarterly and are open to the public. Beginning December 2011, families will have the choice to continue early intervention services through an IFSP beyond age three until their child's fourth birthday.

Family Support Services For Families of Children with Disabilities, Birth Through 21
MSDE maintains a network of local Family Support Services coordinators that assist families of children with disabilities to fully participate in planning early intervention and special education services for their child.
