Directions for VSC Downloadable Files
There are two sets of downloadable files below.  The set, "MS Word VSC Files," in the left-hand column is in the format of Microsoft Word.  These files are intended to be used in Pocket PC handheld computers with Windows Mobile 5.0 or newer versions for operating systems.  These files can also be used in handheld computers with Palm operating systems.

The set, "Pocket Word VSC Files," in the gray, right-hand column is for Pocket PC handheld computers that have operating systems prior to Windows Mobile 5.0.  The content of the VSC is the same, but the format is in Pocket Word. 

HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND PLACE THE VOLUNTARY STATE CURRICULUM (VSC) TO YOUR HANDHELD COMPUTER

STEP 1: Create a shortcut for your handheld on the desktop of your

               computer.  This is a one time procedure.

1.      Open My Computer on your desktop.

2.      Right click on My Mobile Device.

3.      Go to Create a Shortcut.

4.      Click on Yes when the prompt asks if you wish to place the shortcut on your desktop.

5.      An icon of your mobile device will appear on your desktop.

6.      Close My Computer by clicking on the X in the right hand corner of the window.

STEP 2: Download the VSC to the desktop of your computer

1.      Double click on downloadable files.

2.      Select a VSC file to download. 

3.      Double click on the file. 

4.      A prompt will ask you if you wish to save or open the file.  Indicate you wish to save.

5.      Save the file to the desktop of your computer. 

6.      Close or minimize the window.

7.      Follow directions below to move the document from the desktop to the handheld computer.

STEP 3: Drag the desktop file to your handheld computer

1.      Click on the Shortcut to Mobile Device  to open the mobile device

2.      Select a folder or create a new folder by right clicking. 

3.      It is suggested that you name folders by subject area i.e., Math, ELA, Social Studies then drag grade level documents to the subject file.

4.      Drag the Word document from your desktop to a predetermined folder on your mobile device.
