MSDE's Advertisement Policy/Providers' Approved Ads
To address continuing incidents and concerns regarding the offering of expensive incentives, beginning in the 2008-2009 school year, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) introduced a new policy that requires SES providers to obtain prior approval of all advertisements they plan to distribute during the school year, including summer sessions, when applicable. MSDE is reviewing advertisements also to assure that all information disseminated adheres to applicable laws and public policies.
MSDE is posting approved advertisements so that members of the public and school personnel can help monitor compliance with this policy. Anyone who sees advertisements other than the ones approved can report this to MSDE by emailing mcross@msde.state.md.us or by calling (410) 767-0281.
