Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Counselors' Conference 2017

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) invites you to attend the Career and Technology Education (CTE)/Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Counselors’ Conference.  This year’s conference agenda will once again feature CTE programs of study that focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).  The CTE/PLTW Counselors’ Conference will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Radisson North Baltimore Hotel located in Timonium, Maryland.  Registration begins at 7:30 AM and the conference will take place from 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM.  Directions and the conference registration are attached.  There is a nonrefundable registration fee of $20.00 to attend.  

CTE Programs of Study that will be highlighted at this year’s event.  Conference attendees can expect to learn more about Maryland’s CTE Programs of Study including student recruitment strategies, developing partnerships with business and industry, industry certification and college credit options for CTE students and career development strategies.  

The CTE/PLTW Counselors’ conference provides an excellent opportunity for professional school counselors, principals, as well as other school-based and central office staff new to the PLTW Engineering and/or Biomedical Sciences programs to learn about these programs in depth.  Attendance at the conference will familiarize participants with the components of PLTW’s high school programs, the middle school Gateway modules, and the elementary school Launch modules in order to better inform potential students and their parents.  Specific information will be shared about the PLTW College Certification Process for both the Pre-Engineering and Biomedical Sciences programs. 

Everyone who plans to attend the conference must register by Monday, October 23, 2017.  No on-site registrations or payments will be accepted.  Please complete the attached registration form and submit it to Miranda Hill via email at miranda.hill@maryland.gov.  Please also submit payment in the form of a check made payable to the Maryland State Department of Education or a copy of a purchase order.  Mail both your payment and a copy of your registration form to:
