The Financial Education and Capability Awards Program highlight the dedication and success of public school teachers and community champions. Recognition of public school teachers is tied to the Maryland State Curriculum for Personal Financial Literacy Education, which was created under the leadership of the Maryland State Department of Education and mandated for implementation in local school systems beginning in September of 2011.

Awards are given in the following categories:

  • Elementary School Teacher or Program
  • Middle School Teacher or Program
  • High School Teacher or Program
  • Community Champion Award

  • Outstanding Organization Award

Each award winner receives a certificate and $1,000 in cash. Private funds were raised through OneMain Financial and The Woodside Foundation to provide four $1,000 awards. The application for next year's award will be posted in December 2019.
