The Maryland Juvenile Services Education System (JSES) offers credit-bearing science courses aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards and the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards. Courses offered include Biology, Environmental.
Students are required to successfully earn three credits of science, including a laboratory component engaging in the application of science and engineering practices, the crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary Core Ideas.
In order to be considered for acceptance to a school in the University System of Maryland students must have completed three years of science in two different subject areas. Two of the three courses must include laboratory experience.
The Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA) is being field tested in the 2017-18 school year and will replace the HAS Biology assessment. MISA information will be updated as it becomes available.
