The Juvenile Services Education System (JSES) offers students the opportunity to participate in standards-aligned courses during their detainment. Students in high school participate in credit- bearing courses in English, mathematics, social studies, and science. Student grades are reported to local school systems in order for the youth to transition to their home school upon completion of service time. All course work aligns to the following Maryland State Department of Education approved standards:

  • Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards
  • Next Generation Science Standards
  • Maryland Social Studies Standards

JSES provides Special Education and English Learner services to all students who qualify. General Education Diploma (GED) recipients may further their education by participating in post- secondary course work in partnerships with local community colleges.
