Task Force on Restraint and Seclusion

Overview

In 2017, the Maryland General Assembly enacted Senate Bill 786 - Education - Restraint and Seclusion - Consideration and Reporting. The Legislation requires the State Superintendent of Schools to convene a task force to consider a number of assignments related to restraint and seclusion, review existing provisions of the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR), and make recommendations to the State Board of Education and the Maryland General Assembly by October 1, 2017.

Open Meeting

The Task Force on Restraint and Seclusion is an open meeting. The public is welcome to attend.

The Task Force is pleased to receive oral public comment at each of its meetings. In order to allow sufficient time for its other business, the total time allotted to public comment will generally be limited to thirty (30) minutes. Individuals seeking to speak will be given three (3) minutes each. Persons desiring to speak are asked to call (410-767-3678) or email carol.beck@maryland.gov  to register.
