Maryland P-TECH Stakeholders
Work Group

The Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools Act of 2016 (SB 376) required MSDE to form a workgroup to make recommendations to the Governor and the General Assembly on the optimal funding strategy for the newly established Maryland P-TECH program.  MSDE, in partnership with the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC), will convene this work group.

The goal of the Work Group is to provide recommendations on an optimal funding strategy for P–TECH schools in the State and to report on the following:

  • The status of the six planning grant-funded P-TECH schools in Maryland;
  • A framework for funding the dual enrollment costs of P–TECH students;
  • A comparison and explanation for the difference, if any, from current law provisions relating to dual enrollment; and
  • Recommendations for legislation to be introduced during the 2017 Legislative Session.
