 Mary Weller
Mary WellerMary Weller is the Coordinator for Science and provides leadership aimed to ensure high quality, equitable, and rigorous science learning experiences for all students in Maryland.  Mary practices unwavering commitment to the development of scientific literacy in all children and strives to cultivate diverse learning ecosystems where thriving educators nurture thriving students.  Prior to assuming her role at MSDE, Mary coordinated the Secondary Science program in the Howard County Public School System and was a Science Resource Teacher in Carroll County Public Schools.  Mary achieved National Board certification while teaching students in Chemistry, Physics, and Engineering courses in the Carroll County Schools.  She also taught science to students in Virginia.  Currently, Mary is completing her Doctorate of Organizational Leadership at Hood College. She holds a graduate certificate in school administration from the Johns Hopkins University and Master and Bachelor degrees from the University of Virginia.

Jeremy Haack

Jeremy HaackJeremy Haack is a Science Specialist responsible for curriculum, assessment, and professional development aligned to the Maryland Next Generation Science Standards. As a science specialist, his duties include specifically working on activities associated with the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA). He joined the science office at the Maryland State Department of Education from Baltimore County Public Schools where he was the Supervisor of Secondary Science. In his nineteen years in Baltimore County, he also has held the positions of Science Resource Teacher, Science Department Chair and taught Biology, Environmental Science and Forensic Science.

Kirsten Jackson
Kirsten Jackson, Environmental Literacy SpecialistKirsten Jackson is an Environmental Literacy Specialist for programs and instructional materials aligned to the Maryland Next Generation Science Standards and the Maryland State Environmental Literacy Standards for students in PreK - 12. She joins the Maryland State Department of Education science office from Montgomery County Public Schools where she was the Chemistry Lead Secondary Science Instructional Specialist under the Office of Curriculum and Instructional Programs. She taught on level, honors and IB Chemistry for over seven years with Montgomery County. As an environmental literacy specialist, she will collaborate with local school systems and external partners to support Project Green Classrooms, the Chesapeake Bay Program, and Green Ribbon Schools.

Jeremy R. Marcus-Wenger
Jeremy R. Marcus-WengerJeremy Marcus-Wenger is the Science Assessment Specialist responsible for the development and administration of the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA). He joins the Maryland Department of Education Division of Assessment, Accountability, and Performance Reporting from Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) where he was a middle school educator and department chair. In addition, he also assisted in the development of middle school curricula as well as assessments that were aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards.
