CTE Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act FY2024 (Perkins V) Formula Grant

The Maryland State Department of Education is releasing the Grant Information Guide and application information for $16,621,068 in funding through the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) Formula Grant. This program is a Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) grant that will leverage Perkins V formula funds to make substantial investments in supporting and expanding local CTE programs, reimagining the vision and direction of Maryland’s CTE system, and increasing expectations and student outcomes across all Perkins-funded programs. Applicants should use that link to access their Perkins V application for FY24.

The new and exciting vision for CTE in Maryland requires each LEA to provide clear, intentional, and demonstrative alignment to the Blueprint, ensuring every student has the opportunity to fully participate in career pathways that align to high-skill, high-wage, and/or in-demand careers, all leading towards the Blueprint’s goal requiring that 45% of high school students earn an industry recognized credential and/or complete the high school level of a registered youth apprenticeship.

In addition to the virtual support sessions, MSDE staff will provide one-on-one technical assistance throughout the grant writing process for any LEA or community college requesting additional support. 

Signed proposals must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on May 23, 2023, and uploaded to Qualtrics. Applications will be reviewed and approved on a rolling basis, beginning in early May, for any LEA or community college submitting prior to the deadline.
