The Ombudsman’s office at the Maryland State Department of Education was established more than 20 years ago to help assist parents and other members of the public with their educational concerns. The ombudsman works directly with Maryland’s 24 public school systems to gather information and resolve issues. Prior to contacting the Ombudsman, we ask that you go through the following steps:
Step 1Report your concern to your child's school principal or to the specific office supervisor or director.Step 2If still unresolved, contact the school system Superintendent’s office.Step 3If after Step 1 and Step 2, you still do not have a resolution, you may contact Teresa Dantzler, MSDE’s ombudsman, through email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 410-767-0480.
