The Interagency Collaboration Branch coordinates multiple, statewide service initiatives for children and students, ages birth through 21 in collaboration with the Maryland Department of Health, Human Services/Department of Social Services, Department of Disabilities, and Department of Juvenile Services.
The Branch implements and manages Maryland's Medicaid Autism Waiver and health related Medicaid program for children and youth. Responsibilities include technical assistance and monitoring of Autism Waiver and Medicaid services offered by local school systems, special education nonpublic schools, and other public and private agencies.
Intergovernmental Transfer of State funds to the Maryland Department of Health for collaborative services, communication on federal and state Medicaid regulations, training and technical assistance to local school systems on student behavior, and the implementation of evidence-based practices and interventions are managed by the Branch.
Additional responsibilities include administering the rate setting process for residential child-care providers, child placement agencies, and nonresidential child care programs. The Interagency Collaboration Branch is also responsible for technical assistance and staff support for the Special Education State Advisory Committee (SESAC), the provision of differentiated technical support focused on areas of significant disproportionality, and coordination of multi-agency initiatives that support children with special needs and their families.
