Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program

Children at eligible Maryland elementary schools are introduced to a wide variety of free fresh fruits and vegetables during the school day through the Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Program (FFVP). In School Year 2022 – 2023, 196 schools participate in this program.

The FFVP also encourages healthier school environments by promoting nutrition education about the fruit and vegetables served.

The program goals are to:

  • introduce children to new and different varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables
  • increase overall consumption of fresh, unprocessed produce among young children
