O'Marie Barnes is a dedicated community leader, advocate, and nonprofit director with a strong passion for law and politics. He believes that everyone deserves a chance at life and has put this belief into action through his charitable endeavors. O'Marie proudly founded the Community Organization, Barnes and Scott Youth At Law, a youth-led nonprofit that provided young people with the resources they needed to pursue careers in law, public policy, and government. This organization positively impacted hundreds of Marylanders and received recognition from Governor Wes Moore and the Maryland General Assembly.

In addition to his nonprofit work, O'Marie is actively involved in several youth-led initiatives and programs aimed at connecting the government with his peers. He serves on Congressman Glenn Ivey's Safe Streets and Youth Advisory Boards, where he offers important recommendations regarding youth and public safety issues in the district. O'Marie is also honored to have been appointed by House Speaker Adrienne Jones to the Maryland Youth Advisory Council, a council established by the Maryland General Assembly in 2008 to give young people a voice in advocating for policy change.

O'Marie is committed to the principle that an open electoral process is essential for safeguarding our freedoms and ensuring prosperity. This commitment is reflected in his candidacies for the Student Member positions on both the Prince George’s County Board of Education and the Maryland State Board of Education. O’Marie also served as a United States Senate Page, where he actively supported the daily operations of our nation’s capital.

Looking ahead, O'Marie aspires to play a significant role in the public policy decisions that affect our communities. He takes pride in being an active member of his community and is eager to contribute to forums that positively influence young people. Like many others, O'Marie recognizes the importance of the friends and mentors who have supported him throughout his journey.
