The State Framework identifies what students should know and be able to do by the end of each grade. It is aligned with SHAPE America’s 3rd edition of the national physical education standards. The framework was tailored to meet the unique needs of Maryland students by local and national subject matter experts, including local education agency (LEA) leaders, licensed physical education teachers, and students. LEAs use it as a guide to create their curricula and instructional resources.
Equity and Excellence are embedded within the framework, as they are critical to the success of all students.
