What makes us unique:
Chesapeake Math and IT Academy North Public Charter is the #2 public-charter school in the State of Maryland (US NEWS 2019) & one of only six statewide public charters to receive a four or five star rating in 2018-2019 from the MSDE. This 5 STAR rated MS/HS CMIT Academy North Public Charter offers tuition-free, innovative STEM education with expansive course offerings, dual enrollment, early college, and is backed by the Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation of schools’ non-profit Mission and Vision to deliver World Class Education Systems to unlock & maximize individual student potential. With the 4 STAR Elementary in walking distance, all local public K-12 general education requirements are met with increased opportunities to include: hands-on, project-based learning with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) support for all students. This includes scheduling extra STEM courses and coursework, including coding. By Middle School, students should be Microsoft Office Certified Specialists.
Once in High School, CLF Schools will offer Dual Enrollment, AP Courses, Information Technology Early College, and other college/university/career exposure to propel our students’ development of their own maximum potential through partnerships from global to local area businesses and education systems.
CLF supports its STEM schools with an array of staff, infrastructure, logistics, momentum, and financial solutions. CMIT has risen to not only meet the STEM challenges available and required by all eligible CLF schools to actively participate in Science Olympiads, Math Olympiads, our annual CLF MakerFEST, CLF CultureFEST, and CLF Black History Essay & Poster Contest, but often leads at these community events and winning at the local, state, national, and international competitions.
CMIT, like all CLF schools, offers the Ben Belucci Basketball Program, TRAC Bridge Building, SeaPerch Underwater Robotics, County-State-National STEM competitions, NSBE, First LEGO League (FLL), VEX Robotics, and the annual CLF CultureFEST, a massive multi-cultural event open to the public and where all CLF schools’ participate.
CMIT’s community contributes in the form of various student led clubs, sports teams, academic support, and philanthropic ways outside the classroom. The list is too numerous to list here.

I am most proud of my school community when CMIT Academy North supports its sister schools so everyone makes strides of progress towards building the greatest STEM program in the State of MD! Our team of educators come to school with passion and a mission to maximize the potential of every person involved in our community. CMIT Academy North will adopt and is expected to maintains the same level of quality and high expectations as its CLF sister schools. This is because our CMIT North parents-teachers-students define and embrace a positive culture focused on increase opportunity to reach maximum potential: the CLF education model for success. We are most proud when we have a supportive, active PTO. We are thankful our K-12 CMIT Academy North and South campuses are in walking distance to each other and so very proud when all our CLF school communities work together to dream bigger, together.
