Becoming a CTE Teacher
Main_Content
Career and technical education (CTE) prepares students for immediate entry into the workforce and/or postsecondary institutions. There are over 60 CTE programs of study that address Maryland’s current and future workforce needs. Each program of study requires educators that possess the skill and knowledge to prepare students for careers in identified programs of study.
There are multiple pathways to becoming a career and technical education teacher. The Office of College and Career Pathways developed a guidance document that defines teacher certification options for each program of study. A comprehensive overview of educator certification in Maryland is located on the Division of Educator Certification and Program Approval,
